Most commonly known as an airlock. Air gets trapped in pockets inside the cooling system and will not allow the coolant to circulate. It is very difficult to get all the air bled from the cooling system without expensive evacuation tools that pull the air from the system while refilling the system. With the Easy Bleeder it’s very simple to accomplish this task:
- Install the Easy Bleeder onto your vehicle.
- Fill the cooling system with the required ratio of Antifreeze/Coolant and Water (Most climates a 50/50 mix is sufficient). More Antifreeze/Coolant is not necessarily better!
- Bring the engine up to operating temperature with the heater on full.
- Carefully open the Easy Bleeder valve until you no longer see air bubbles, just a constant flow of liquid then close.
- Run engine at approximately 2500 RPM for 2-3 minutes.
- Carefully open the Easy Bleeder valve until you no longer see air bubbles, just a constant flow of liquid then close.
- Drive vehicle for 2-3 miles keeping an eye on the temperature gauge. It is not uncommon to see fluctuations in the temperature.
- Carefully open the Easy Bleeder valve, if no air purges from the Easy Bleeder just liquid your done.
- If you still have some air purging from the system repeat step 7.
Easy Bleeder is available in 3 sizes to fit most vehicles. If your not sure of the size of the radiator hose on your vehicle:
With the engine off and cold remove the top radiator hose from the radiator and measure the inside width (Straight across).
Slightly larger or smaller is ok, if your heater core hoses are flexible and accessible then this is the one for you. Typically the heater core is the highest point in the cooling system so it’s the best point to purge the air.
